MechaForce: Shaping Talent with and for NJ Advanced Manufacturers
At Norwalt Design, Inc., we recognize that the future of the automation industry depends on identifying and educating talented young people in school. By helping student in college, each future graduate will come out with an education and training that will allow them to thrive and even enhance the automation and manufacturing industry. Creating items like automated assembly machines. The work that is being done by MechaForce throughout New Jersey is helping the manufacturing industry to thrive, while also training people for important, well paying jobs. At Norwalt, we believe in the MechaForce program, and we are excited to see all the benefits that come as a result.
As New Jersey manufacturers increasingly improve their operations through automation, talent needs to be attracted to and developed in New Jersey to support design fabrication, and manufacturing processes. MechaForce is an innovative, state-wide program whose goal is to change the image of manufacturing and to provide education and training in the field of advanced manufacturing, specifically mechatronics and metal technology, in order to fill a workforce gap. The aim is to produce quality professionals who will help manufacturers be competitive, opening up career pathways for young people and adults as well as providing career stability and security.
Led by NJ manufacturers and partnered with NJ colleges, the MechaForce team has already developed an industry-driven, collegiate-level Mechatronics curriculum that is portable and flexible. Based on the German Dual Skills model of formal and hands-on learning in appropriately equipped modern training labs and on-the-job, MechaForce provides a structured and sequential educational, apprentice and career pathway leading to an Associate’s Degree, industry certification and, as an option, to a Bachelor’s degree. And learners who are so shaped are ready to be hired by the very manufacturers who have volunteered their time to help the educators get the learning right and who provide hands-on experiences for their future employees.
In 2015, the MechaForce statewide initiative will be working to offer the Mechatronics curriculum at public educational institutions in Hudson, Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex, Bergen, Somerset, Gloucester, Essex and Union counties. They continue to recruit manufacturing companies that share our values and goals.
We are interested in success. We want highly motivated and talented students to be prepared for roles in advanced High speed automated assembly machines. We want companies to remain profitable and prepared as they escalate their ability to produce. We believe MechaForce is the answer.
